Rabbi Heschel speaks about Radical Amazement, opening ourselves up to seeing the fullest picture possible that we can see as finite human beings. This opens us up to Reverence for the world around us. It is easy to be swayed by the negative things we hear on the news, or angered by the hateful things spoken by political candidates or people in power. Radical Amazement and Reverence can help us invoke positive thoughts, feelings, and actions to the negative. Heschel says, “What we lack is not a will to believe, but a will to wonder.” Easter, for example, is about the wonder felt about the resurrection of Jesus.
