Recorded June 12, 2016

In Stevie Wonder’s song “Have a Talk With God” he sings, “He’s the only free psychiatrist that’s known throughout the world / For solving the problems of all men, women, little boys and girls / When you feel your life’s too hard / Just go have a talk with God.” But there is another free psychiatrist in this world, as evoked in Stevie’s song “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing.” He says to his friend, “Don’t you worry ’bout a thing, mama / ‘Cause I’ll be standing on the side” and let’s her know that he’ll always be there for her. That human connection, that human presence that we all crave on some level, can be just as healing as a solitary exploration with the divine.
